I feel that a post is warranted in appreciation of the trio of friendly and inquisitive cows that greet me nearly every time I walk down Piney Woods Church Road.  Sometimes, one or more will dash over to where I am, practically galloping, if a cow can gallop.   They seem eager to find out what I am up to or, more likely, whether I might have brought them a snack today.  Before this project, I rarely thought of cows, and tended to ignore them grazing in a field as I would drive or walk past them.  Lately, I have come to find their company quite pleasant.

  1. Great pics of the cow. You’ve really captured the life along Piney Woods Church Road. One of my favorite roads is fairly nearby — Vernon Grove Rd. Used to walk it all the time back in 2005, and will start walking it again this year on some training walks. Nice “gentlemen’s farm” along the way, old ruins, and I think a rock quarry that I’ve yet to explore. Keep up the great blog. I really enjoy it.

    • Laurie,

Thank you very much for your comment. I have walked Vernon Grove Road a few times, but this year, Piney Woods Church Road is keeping me busy! Next year, though, I may expand my project to include many local country roads.
